    "Performing a factory data reset deletes all data, including downloaded applications, and resets the device back to its initial state—the state before you turned on the device for the first time.

    HTC Dream

    1. Turn the G1 off. If it’s frozen on, take the battery out and put it back in the unit.

    2. Hold the Home and Power keys down at same time for about 25 seconds. You will see a yellow triangle screen with exclamation point in the
    middle.

    Now to wipe the device clean:

    3. Press Alt+L.
    4. Press Alt+W for a factory reset.
    5. Press the Home and Back keys again for about 25 seconds.
    The device should then reset again and the hard reset is complete.



    HTC Magic

    1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the HOME and BACK
    2. Briefly press the END CALL/POWER button while continuing to pressHOME and BACK buttons.
    3. When you see the screen with the 3 Android images, release the HOME and BACK buttons, and then press the TRACKBALL.

    Tip
    : If your phone hangs or freezes, remove the battery then wait for a few seconds, and then re-install it. After re-installing the battery, turn on the phone.






    HTC Hero

    1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the HOME and BACKand then briefly press the END CALL/POWER button. The reset process will start after a few seconds.
    2. Wait for the phone to finish the reset process and then press MENU.

    Tip : If your phone hangs or freezes, remove the battery then wait for a few seconds, and then re-install it. After re-installing the battery, turn on the phone.



    HTC Tattoo


    1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the HOME and BACKand then briefly press the END CALL/POWER button.
    2. Press the ENTER button to begin the reset process.

    Tip If your phone hangs or freezes, remove the battery then wait for a few seconds, and then re-install it. After re-installing the battery, turn on the phone.

    Motorola Droid

    To reset your phone to factory settings and erase all the data on your phone,
    Touch Menu > Settings
    > Privacy > Factory data reset > Reset phone.
    Warning: All data on your phone will be deleted.

    Motorola Droid Hard reset with keys

    Power off device.
    Press X key on hard keyboard + power button, then release both buttons.

    When you see exclamation point press and hold VOLUME UP + CAMERA KEY. You will see Android system recovery menu.
    With D pad go to data / factory reset, then press CENTER D Pad, then choose Yes.

    HTC Dream Soft reset

    A soft reset clears the device memory and closes running applications. Perform a soft reset when your device hangs or freezes, is running slower than normal, or an application is not performing properly. If a soft reset is performed when applications are running, unsaved information will be lost.
    To perform a soft reset
    1. Remove the back cover.
    2. Remove the battery for a few seconds.
    3. Re-install the battery, replace the back cover, then turn on the device

    To remove the back cover
    1. Make sure the device is turned off.
    2. Hold the device sideways with the control buttons on the right.
    3. Slide the screen panel up to reveal the keyboard and the back cover release tab.
    4. Gently push down the release tab with your finger until the back cover disengages from the device.
    5. Pull the back cover out then set it aside.

    factory reset

    1. Holding the Camera button while turning on your phone,
    2. When prompted hit the Volume-Down rocker button to go into Recovery Mode.
    3. After you get into Recovery Mode,
    4. Press ALT+L to reset, then Menu+Back to reboot.

    HARD RESET SAPP300 aka TMobile MYTouch My Touch

    Steps to WIPE and HARD RESET TMOBILE MYTOUCH Without Keypad

    1) Press and hold the HOME button and the POWER button together.

    2) Keep holding HOME and POWER together for at least 25 seconds, even if the "Startup" screen appears.

    3) Release the keys when you see a black screen with a warning sign.

    4) At the above warning sign screen, press the HOME and POWER buttons again simultaineously...(10 secs).. and then let them go.

    5) Use the trackball to scroll to wipe data/factory reset.

    6) Press the trackball in on wipe data/factory reset.

    7) When the bottom of the screen displays [DATA WIPE COMPLETED].... roll the trackball to [REBOOT SYSTEM NOW].
    Press the trackball in on [REBOOT SYSTEM NOW]
    Await for the reboot....Full factory reset completed.

    HTC Desire - Hard reset

    1. press and hold back & home buttons
    2. press for a second power button
    3. now a white screen will appear and with 4 options
    very easy to follow them
    you would use volume buttons to make a choice
    then power button to confirm a choice

    • Turn the power off. If your HTC Desire is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
    • Hold the Volume Down button
    • Press and release the Power button
    • You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
    • Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
    • Press and release the Power button
    • Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

    The Samsung Galaxy S2 is definitely one of the best devices manufactured by Samsung and on the eve of the release of the Samsung Galaxy S3, the Galaxy S2 is still on the top of the list of the hottest Android devices. Samsung has rolled out the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II but some of its variants are still waiting for the update.

    Two firmware versions were released for the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. Build I9100XWLP7 is for users in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and build I9100XWLP8 is for Optus subscribers in Australia. Let us learn how to root it.


    Now that your Samsung Galaxy S2 is running on official Ice Cream Sandwich, only one thing is missing: root, of course. You can do a lot of things with a rooted device. So, if you want to root your Samsung Galaxy S2 running on official Ice Cream Sandwich, see the instructions below.

    Requirements


    • Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 (either the U.K./Ireland variant or the Australia variant)
    • A Windows PC
    • Samsung USB drivers properly installed on the computer
    • Enable USB Debugging on your phone. Go to Settings > Applications > Development.
    • Create a back up of all the important data (i.e. contacts, call logs, files and internet settings), just in case something goes wrong you have a back up. You can read our guides on how to backup your data locally or on cloud.
    • Make sure that you have enough battery power to avoid interruption of the procedure due to power loss.
    • Install the appropriate firmware update for your phone.
    • Download Odin3 1.85 to your computer: Odin3_v1.85.zip (437.8 kB)
    • Download the rooting package (CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip, 6.2 MB) for both firmware I9100XWLP7 (U.K./Ireland) and I9100XWLP8 (Australia)

    Instructions


    1. Extract CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip to any folder on your computer.
    2. Extract Odin3_v1.85.zip into a folder on your computer.
    3. Double-click on Odin3 v1.85.exe program to launch Odin3.
    4. Turn off your phone.
    5. Put your phone in Downloaded Mode by pressing the Power button, Volume Down key, and the Home button.
    6. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
    7. Odin3 will recognize your device and will display a message saying “Added!”.
    8. Go to the PDA tab and select the rooting file that you extracted in step 1.
    9. Click Start to start the rooting process.
    10. Once the rooting is successful, you should get a “Pass” message and you can disconnect your phone. If you get “Fail” message, close Odin3, disconnect your phone, remove and reinsert your battery, and start over from step 3.


    Congratulations! You have now rooted the official Ice Cream Sandwich firmware on your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100.
